Organisational Structure

Apii Timoti

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Apii Timoti was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of TAU in early 2001. He first joined TAU in 1998 as General Manager, Operations. Prior to joining TAU, Apii served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy. The CEO also worked with the power utility in the days that it was called the Electric Power Supply (EPS) before moving to Energy. More recently, Apii concluded a term as Chair of the Pacific Power Association – the regional body of power utilities, which has a secretariat based in Suva, Fiji.

Nick Carter

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

The Finance and Administration Division of TAU is headed by Manager Nick Carter.

Nick has over 10 years experience in senior accounting since graduating and has held senior roles in New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and Australia. He has worked extensively in both the private and the public sector, including several years as the Crown Accounting Manager at Ministry of Finance and Economic Management in Rarotonga.

Nick commenced with TAU as of January 2017, and is responsible to the CEO.  In addition to Finance, he also manages the sections of Billings; Customer Services; and Debtors.

Tauu Purea (Acting)

GENERATION

The Generation Division encompasses the operations of TAU’s Power Station located in the Avatiu Valley, where it was established during the 1970s.  Previously, the power station was located in Tutakimoa at the site of the present Administration/Network building.

Tauu Purea is Acting Manager of the Generation Division that currently consists of 20 staff.

Power is generated and supplied to the whole of Rarotonga from the Avatiu Valley Station. The generating capacity of the station is provided by nine generators with a total installed nameplate capacity of 13,700kW, each generator ranging in size from 600kW to 2,600kW.  The actual available capacity is 13,400kW.  TAU maintains an N-2 policy, which allows for downtime maintenance work to be conducted on 2 gensets simultaneously.
